Falling in love with my best friend?

We have been best friends for 8 years, we live together and his family is like my family, and vice versa. We are the only ones eachother can truly connect with, no matter how hard we try with anyone else. But I don't feel like im good enough for him. I have made so many mistakes, and have dated girls for a while, causing him to think of me as a lesbian for a while until I started dating guys again more recently. He takes sex as something sacred, as do I. I'm just so afraid to ruin our friendship, or cause him stress or to get upset. Its not worth it, but these feelings for him get stronger and stronger each day. Our eye contact is electrifying. Please, any help would be amazing.
